Course Description
Course #801 Concert Choir
Curriculum I 9-10-11-12 full year 4 periods 5 credits
Concert Choir is comprised of students who have a passion for singing and learning SATB choral music from many styles and periods of music. This exploratory course is an essential foundation to anyone who wants to be part of the Jubilee Singers, Tiger Bebop and the Family Singers and is highly recommended for incoming freshman but is open to all upperclassmen. The human voice is studied and explained in detail as well as music theory, note reading, ear training and music appreciation. The curriculum is designed to make students the best musician they can be through exposure to such diverse styles as Jazz, Spirituals, Folk Music, Broadway and Madrigals. Each spring, the Concert Choir combines with the Family Singers and NNHS Orchestra (over 100 students) to perform a major choral work; recent concerts include Mozart’s Requiem and Schubert’s Mass in G. Concert Choir students can also decide to be part of the Music Travel Club where the student will have an opportunity to travel with other
