Formal Concert Dress Code
ALL WOMEN
Shoes:
any black dress shoe is allowed, but please be sure that it is a dress shoe and not just a sandal, boot, etc. 


Bottoms:
a long skirt or pair of dress pants is required. No skirt should be above the knee. This is necessary considering that we all sit on a stage that is above the audience, and also it is professional looking.

Tops: a nice, three-quarter sleeve or long sleeve black top is appropriate.

ALL MEN
Please wear black suits with black socks and black dress shoes. Wear a long sleeve dress shirt with long tie.




Casual Dress Code for ALL

Registration Information

811 Jazz Ensemble no level 9-10-11-12 full year 1 period 1.25 credits 
(All Students interested in ANY of the Jazz groups should register for 811 Jazz Ensemble.)Requirements: Wind and Percussion players must be members of either the Wind Ensemble or the Symphonic Band in order to be eligible for these Ensembles.

Ensemble Descriptions

Jazz Ensemble is a select group that features the performance of traditional and contemporary big band music. Jazz Ensemble uses a specific instrumentation of 5 trumpets, 4 trombones, 5 saxophones (2 alto, 2 tenor, and bari), piano, guitar, bass, and drums. Membership is by audition and the permission of the instructor. 

Jazz Workshop is open to all instrumentalists who wish to learn about and perform various styles of jazz, latin, fusion and rock music. The Jazz Workshop serves to introduce students to the vocabulary of these various styles as well as develop ability in improvisation.  Rhythm section players are required to have some reading ability. All members of this group are required to perform at all concerts given by this group.

Jazz Combo is a small jazz group which focuses on standard jazz tunes and the art of improvisation. Jazz Combo is for select students who are seeking advanced study of Jazz improvisation. Enrollment is limited and by audition only.
